Mary Portas high street review gets government approval

30 03 2012

The government has accepted recommendations from retail guru Mary Portas, which are aimed at reviving the British high street.

Dedicated 'town teams' will manage high streets, a National Markets Day is to launch and a £10m high street innovation fund will rejuvenate empty shops, as part of the Portas Plus plan. A £500k fund for Business Improvement Districts will also be set up to help town centres access loans.
